the triduum of hallowtide
Hallowtide Triduum
This year we are celebrating Hallowtide in a special way! What is Hallowtide? It is the ancient Christian custom of praying for the dead and celebrating the countless (named and unnamed) saints in heaven over the course of three days: All Hallows Eve (Halloween), All Saints Day, and All Souls Day.
On October 31 we will celebrate the anticipated Mass of All Saints Day. There will be special treats for the children after Mass. On Nov 1, All Saints Day, we celebrate the lives of those who are already in heaven and rejoice in the Communion of Saints and their prayers for us. On Nov 2, All Souls Day, we remember all those who have passed and are in Purgatory.
Our prayers for them assist in their purification and their prayers for us do the same. The entire month of November is dedicated to praying for the souls in Purgatory. We thank God for his infinite mercy. So, come, let us celebrate this holy Hallowtide together.
ON Mondays at 7:30pm | starting October 26
Praying with Scripture
Come and Discover the Beauty of Lectio Divina!
Come and join with others in praying with/talking about Scripture. You are warmly invited to attend a casual gathering where we focus on the Gospel from the previous Sunday. Sometimes during Mass we are distracted and the Word of God passes by without us having the opportunity to really receive it.
Lectio Divina gives us another opportunity to slow down and dive deeper into the Gospel, allowing the Word to speak to us personally. This is a beautiful practice and draws us closer to God. All are welcome!
Lectio Divina runs on Monday evenings, starting October 26, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm in St Bernadette Hall. Interested people are encouraged to sign up at the church entrances. For more information, call the parish office.
Come, be still, pause, listen to God’s Word, and discover how it can transform your heart!
